Tehri/Matar pulao

This is a preparation of rice & green peas. This dish is very much famous in U.P.,as I have my roots from U P. I just simply love this Tehri as it is called. We enjoy having it with green chutney, and Aloo ka papad


Preparation time – 15 minutes | Feeds: – 3 people

Ingredients –

  • 1cup  basmati rice
  • 2cups water
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 2 – 3 cloves
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 2 – 3 green cardmoms
  • 1/4tsp turmeric powder
  • Salt to taste


  1. Soak 1cup rice in water for 10 minutes.
  2. Take oil in pressure cooker, first add cinnamon stick, green cardmom , cloves, bay leaf, let them splutter .
  3. Add the soaked rice with 2,cups of water, turmeric powder & salt.
  4. Take 2 whistles of the cooker and put off the gas.
  5. Serve hot with curd  or green chutney as you wish & enjoy.

I simply enjoy this with my whole family as we all love it.
