Mathri is a delicacy that is enjoyed with achaar / pickle, & with tea. We prepare mathri  in festivals such as Diwali, Holi,& other festivals too. Sometimes I prepare as my daughter enjoys taking it to her office. Mathri is a good munching delicacy.

Preparation time- 30 minutes | Makes- 20 – 25 pieces

  • All purpose flour 1/2 kg
  • Salt to taste
  • 1/4 tsp ajwain seeds
  • 2 tbsp oil for moin
  • Oil for frying


  1. Knead the flour with salt ,ajwain seeds , moin, as we knead for puris.
  2. Now make small ball out of it.Roll out purir & pierce it with fork on both sides.
  3. Deep fry them till light brown.
  4. Have it with any pickle , & of course tea. So enjoy
