Raw mango mirchi chutney / mirchi lounji as it is known has a very tangy flavour with lots of green chillies , it can be eaten as a side dish with paratha, mathri, & even with dal chawal. This is salty , sweet and sour with lots of chillies.
Now there is a second option of making sweet & sour lounji.This also has a lovely flavours of spices in it. You can enjoy both of them .
Preparation time for both – 20 minutes | Serves – 5-6
Ingredients for spicy lounji
- 4-5 raw mangoes peeled& grated
- 1 tsp red chilli powder
- 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
- 7-8 green chillies diced
- Salt to taste
- 1/4 tsp mustard seeds
- 1/2 tsp oil
- 1cup water
Method
- Take oil in pan, add oil ,put mustard seeds let them splutter add spices & grated raw mangoes.
- Fry a little add water & salt, cook till water dries little , your chutney is ready
Ingredients for sweet& sour lounji
- 4-5 raw mangoes cut in medium pieces
- Salt to taste
- 1/4 red chilli powder
- 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- A pinch of heeng /asafoetida
- 1/4 tsp kalonji seeds/ onion seeds
- 1/4 tsp methi seeds / fenugreek seeds
- 3 tbsp sugar
- 2cups water
Method
- Take oil in pan , add all whole spices let them splutter then add raw mangoes, red chilli powder, turmeric powder salt & water now cook them.
- When mangoes are done add sugar and let the gravy thicken, your chutney is ready to be served.
